Anyway, we left the hotel around 10:00 this morning after breakfast and room checks. The boys were more than happy to get out of the "heat wave" and get going to Florida! Words cannot even describe how excited they are to get to Orange Lake Country Club Resort! That is pretty much all they are talking about! They have already devised schemes on how they are going to gang up on me in the pool, but we'll see if it actually happens. ;) After we depart from Kissimmee we'll be setting sail on the cruise ship.
Today on the bus, the boys watched the "Battle of Britain" and the beginning of "National Treasure" (I thought it'd be appropriate after visiting D.C. just a few days ago). The boys liked it and continued to socialize and play their games the remainder of the bus ride. For lunch we stopped at Western Sizzlin in Pooler, Georgia. The boys had the buffet, and thought they were in Paradise!! They had almost every food imaginable: fried chicken, mashed potatoes, breaded fish, breaded shrimp, fried okra, black-eyed-peas, hush puppies, and the classic mac and cheese! Not to mention a full desert line...including a self-serve ice cream machine (with assorted toppings)!! The boys were definitely spoiled!
Since we crossed into Georgia, we've been seeing more and more palm trees. The boys keep asking if we'll see a crocodile. Jim just tells them to watch out their window whenever we cross over a river! Maybe we'll get lucky...
When we finally arrived in Jacksonville, we were in awe at the church. It was beautiful--it looked exactly like a cathedral! The boys sounded great in it! Francis couldn't stop saying how wonderful the concert went and how they only have one concert left before they have the competition on the cruise! The pressure is mounting...
Following the concert, we divided the boys into host homes for the night. Tomorrow we go to Kissimmee...this time I'm positive--I checked the itinerary! :)
Today was a 290 mile bus ride. Tomorrow will be a 165 mile bus ride. Check back later for an update. Feel free to comment.

Thanks again, Kenny! Sounds like you all have hit some of the hottest weather around!! Stay cool, enjoy Kissimmee, and good luck on the cruise!!
ReplyDeleteI don't even have a son in the Viking choir and I am enjoying the updates, Kenny. Good job! (And thanks to Jim for filling in for a couple of days). Have fun at Orange Lake - it's just as spectacular as you have heard!
ReplyDeleteWill you be doing updates from the ship? Parents may appreciate knowing if they should expect updates or not for those days. Thanks again, Kenny.
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone, This has been one of Caleb's favorite jokes. Since you're in Kissimmee, I thought I would share it with you. Smile and have a great time :-) Sending "KISSES" your way.
ReplyDeleteA husband and wife were driving their RV across the country and were nearing a town called Kissimmee. They noted the strange spelling and tried to figure out how to pronounce it: KISS-i-me, kiss-I-me, kiss-i-ME. They grew more and more confused as they drove into the town. Because they were hungry, they pulled into a restaurant to get something to eat. At the counter, the man said to the server: "My wife and I can't figure out how to pronounce the name of this place. Will you tell me where we are and say it very slowly so that I can understand?" The server looked at him and said: "Buuurrrgerrrr Kiiiinnnng."
Hi Kenny, Have the started voting on cb of the year? Have the grads gotten to do anything extra? Could you let Noah S know his sister would like a woven braclet or necklace from the Bahamas. She sent her letter late. Thanks for all your hard work. Mary S
ReplyDeleteI will do my best to update everyday, but I cannot make any promises. I don't know if they will have wi-fi access onboard, or know how accessible it will be. We'll just have to play it by ear.
